Our History or More About Us

With this website we have just recently started to market our lists directly to our customers, but we have been involved with the midrange marketplace since 1986.  Like anyone who markets to the Midrange world we needed a list of Midrange sites, then System 36 and 38, to help expand our business. We quickly learned that such a list did not exist! We could "rent" a "mailing" from one of the magazines but we wanted to be able to call each company ourselves. We also wanted to keep the data in-house and maintain our own database. We desperately needed this list so we began compiling a list for our own uses.

We bought a list of companies in the South East with over 100 employees and paid a research company to call every company on the list and ask for the name of the MIS Director and get the type of system they were using. When we were done we had a list of about 10,000 companies using midrange equipment. Loaded with these midrange sites we contacted hundreds of midrange vendors, user groups, recruiters and anybody else who might be able to provide us with current information on installed IBM Midrange sites and "trade" our list for their lists. Within six months we had received over 175,000 names.

We standardized all the different formats we received, de-duped all of the redundant information and cleaned up all the sloppy errors. At the time we ended up with a list of over 60,000 "clean" companies, that were using midrange equipment. It took us another six months to call each "new" company, verify the information, correct the errors and present our own sales pitch. After removing all the out-of-business sites and sites that were not using midrange equipment we ended up with a about 40,000 telephone verified highly accurate sales leads!

The simple act of calling these new companies caused our company to grow faster than we could find staff to help. Word also got around that we had this great list and many companies called us wanting to trade or even buy it from us. Of course we were more than happy to oblige. Marketing to the list, maintaining the list, and selling the list all under one roof was more that our company could handle and we were soon overwhelmed! We finally contracted with a list broker to sell our list for us but even then the work was more than we could handle.
